Always Near (An Advent Poem during a pandemic)

Dec 8, 2020 2:59:02 PM / by Fr. Mike Bassano, MM

Festive season approaching

           meeting challenges of life

            moving forward positively

             with convincing possibilities

Willingness to receive

          events unfolding

           trusting implicitly

            Your loving care

Waiting hopefully for:

           pandemic ending

           vaccine forthcoming

           unity restoring

            racism vanquishing

            equality blossoming

             hunger overcoming

             healing abounding

              peace flowing

              justice achieving and

               cries of poor ones heard

Firmly believing

             everyday miracles

              happening wonderfully

              heartfelt compassion thriving

Expecting changes

             brighter days ahead

              hope enduring

               resilient people arising

All comes to fruition

            in Your own time

            resting securely

            rooted in You

Darkness overcome

          by light of glory

       God's birthing place

         our open hearts

Following Jesus closely

             throughout life's journey

               message of Christmas

                  we are loved

Dwelling among us

               humanity embracing

                You are always near

                  that is enough for me.
