In Eastern Kenya, Maryknoll's Superior General initiated several long-term projects aimed at addressing the challenges of drought, climate change, and food insecurity. The region near Kibwezi, once envisioned as an agriculturally productive area, has been greatly affected by climate change, leading to shorter growing seasons and dwindling water sources.

Maryknoll Father Lance Nadeau, who has been involved in the area for over a decade, has spearheaded efforts to provide food assistance, livestock breeding, well drilling, and water retention initiatives in partnership with the St. John the Baptist mission. Despite the harsh conditions, innovative projects like tree planting, well drilling, and goat breeding have provided hope and resilience to the local communities. These efforts not only address immediate challenges but also aim to create sustainable solutions for the future. Father Nadeau's leadership has been instrumental in these endeavors, supported by donors and the community's own resilience.
