“What’s a WOG tree ?” you ask. For that I will have to go back a little.
I just retired and am beginning to create new routines for myself. One new routine is my morning walk- brisk but also more leisurely ( I can stop and enjoy the sights, talk to people etc…) now that I don’t have to hurry back to start work.
On one of these walks, I stopped to sit a while on a park bench. This was the leisurely part I would skip before. It was a perfectly situated bench with just enough shade created by two trees working harmoniously together. The larger one , at the back had grown towards the younger one in front and their branches , almost intertwined created the perfect shady spot which let tiny bits of sunshine through.
So I sat and took it all in. It was beautiful. And then I decided to listen to what God had to say to me today. He had already said a lot on my walk but I wondered what else he had to say.
I took out my phone and listened to the day’s readings and sure enough there was God speaking to me through Tobit and the Angel Rafael. I took it all in and wondered how God knew that this was what I needed at this time.
It was then that I decided that I would make this a practice. I would stop at the bench, under the shade made by two cooperating trees on my walk each morning and listen to the Word of God and what it had to say to me.
And that is how my WOG (Word of God) tree was born.
Do you have a WOG tree or bench or place? If not … get one. God is waiting to speak to you there.
